From the Desk of the Commander

December 2008

I'm so grateful for receiving the 2008 Veterans of the Year Award. This I will cherish for the rest of my life. I thank everyone.

We can never forget what this day means to Americans and their families. THANKS TO ALL WW II VETERANS for their sacrifices. This country and Europe is free today becasue of you! THANK YOU.

Post will be closed on Christmas day so all our families can share the holiday together. Please keep our troops stationed throughout the world in your prayers while they are in Harm's Way keeping us safe.

This is the month to save money on your Life membership. We are having a 50/50 Life Membership Drive. You pay half and the Post pays the other half. Only for December. All World War II veterans who join will get a free Life Membership.

Members of the month are BJ Quinn and Teddy Gasser. What a wonderful job they do keeping our outside area looking nice and clean. Teddy is always there whenever we need him. He assists with just about all functions and is a Guardian every month when we fly our WW II veterans to Washington, DC. BJ always goes above and beyond when performing his duties. Thank you both for a great, great job.

My wife, Pat, is heading up a program for the Homeless Veterans - we need warm socks, gloves, hats, blankets, sweaters, coats, etc. Please, I'm asking our members to help out. Give what you can.

I will put out a container at the canteen for 'Pennies & Pocket Change for Our Veterans'. The monies collected will go towards purchasing hams and turkeys to pass out to our veterans and families in need. Thank you in advance for your help.

Happy Birthday and Anniversary to members who celebrate in December. Come on down and the Commander will buy you a cold beverage.
